Our Consortium

Complex vascular anomalies are serious conditions that can cause major health problems and even be life-threatening.

Vascular malformations (VMs) happen when blood vessels and lymph vessels grow in an abnormal way that causes an immature vessel. This unusual growth is usually caused by changes (mutations) in certain genes that control how cells grow and multiply.

Advancing Rare Disorders: Vascular mAlformation Research Network with CaNVAS (ARDVARC) builds on the established clinical trial network, CaNVAS (Consortium of iNvestigators of Vascular AnomalieS).

Our goal is to strengthen research and improve care for people living with vascular malformations. By bringing together patients, families, physicians, researchers, and other health care professionals, we work to advance understanding of these rare conditions and translate discoveries into better treatments.

ARDVARC focuses on:

  • Strengthening research infrastructure to support high-quality clinical trials
  • Expanding partnerships with academic centers and industry
  • Fostering new collaborations across disciplines
  • Developing expertise across a diverse and dedicated workforce

Together, ARDVARC and CaNVAS share a common mission: to advance clinical research and improve outcomes for patients with vascular malformations.
